When I finally left Cairo they nearly sent my bag to Hong Kong. Somehow I got mixed up with a tour group of short little men from Hong Kong. Although I stood out like a tall white woman in a see of little dark men they still put the wrong tags on my bag. Fortunately the mistake was caught and sorted out. I was nearly kidnapped by a man and 2 ladies in Burkas. As I waited for confirmation that my bag was retagged properly I sat on a bench with these 2 women who just stared at me and talked to each other in some middle east language. When the man they belonged with came and got them they said something to him and then he tried to convince me to go with them in some language I didn't understand. After a few minutes of my refusing and his insisting they left.
My flight from Cairo to Johannasburg was a 7 3/4 hour overnight flight. It stunk. I broke down and used the bathroom since I had a beer and a bottle of wine after my bag mix up and my invitation to join a new family. I gaged and hovered as best I could and I vowed NEVER AGAIN!!
Nothing exciting happened in Jo-Berg and I nearly cried with excitement when I saw my bag on the conveyor belt. I had to re check in in Jo-Berg and go through customs. I'm pretty good at speeding through security checks by this point as I've done 5 in 3 airports in 2 days.
When I got to Cape Town I was picked up by a friend of a friend in exchange for a pound of Kicking Horse coffee. Thank goodness for his coffee snob addiction as it was the cheapest taxi I ever took! Neil showed me a couple of sites then dropped me off at my hotel where I would meet up with my tour group that evening.
Let the adventure continue ....
