Cape Town to Nairobi Day 15 Okovango Delta

When we woke up we started moving all our things to the boat dock to load into 2 motor boats that would take us deeper into the Okovango Delta. We took the boats for about and hour into a line on the land that divides the agriculture land from the wild land. At that point we met up with our camping crew with approx 15 Mokoros (flat wooden canoes), and our polers that would take us into the Delta. The trip deeper into the Delta took approx an hour and a half. When we reached camp it was mid day and hotter than hell so we set up camp then we layed around for a few hours until 5ish so it was cooler. At 5 we climbed back into the Mokoros and were taken to an island for a “Nature Walk”. Since they can’t guarantee that we’ll see animals they just call them “Nature walks”, but several Mokoros saw a hippo on the way to the island and as soon as we landed on solid ground we could see elephants in the distance. We broke into 4 groups of 6 and headed off in that direction to see the elephants. It was AMAZING! There were 3 bulls and to see them from ground level at about 200 yards was AMAZING!  Once the elephants wandered off we headed back to the boats and back to camp so we would have supper and an early night as we were expected to be ready to be in the boats again before 7 the next morning for a 4 hour “Nature Walk”
