Cape Town to Nairobi Day 26 Kandi Beach, Lake Malawi Day 2

It rained this morning so a bunch of us girls went for a hot breakfast for a change from the cereal and yogurt options at the truck. Before lunch I went for a swim in Lake Malawi! It’s the 3rd largest lake in Africa (500km long) and has more species of fish than any other lake in the world, 600! The water is so warm it’s ridiculous! However, don’t pee in the water here or you open the way for a nightmare I wont even begin to describe here! Lets just say something bad will swim up into your important parts! OUCH!!!!

In the afternoon a bunch of us went on a 2hour horse ride that ends with everyone riding their horses out into this gigantic lake and swimming with them! HELL YA! What a great afternoon!

We finished the day with a traditional meal that was cooked for us. We got to watch them put a freshly (this morning) killed goat on a spit and they sat all day turning it to perfection! We had also hired a bunch of locals to make us costumes for a party after dinner using natural elements such as banana leaves, sticks, grass, etc. My group had a guy by the name of “Gift” make us ant costumes. We rocked the show! So much fun!

As for our costume maker, “Gift”, his was the most normal name of everyone I met. I also bought a small painting from “Sugar and Spice”, there was “Mr. T”, and my personal favorite was “Cheese on Toast”!! LMAO!
