Our morning started with an amazing drive though the mountain side on a “highway” that was barely wide enough for 2 vehicles with straight drops off our side and no shoulders to the road. At one point we could see a semi truck that had gone over the edge and was left twisted at the bottom of the mountain. The views were spectacular though.
As for Dar es Salaam….lets just say CRAZY!! Dar is insane! The pictures don’t do it justice! There was a market on the side of the highway that we had to drive through. There were probably about 50,000 people there selling and buying EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING! The traffic was similar to what I experienced in Cairo. Road rules do not apply here! Our truck was only able to move at approx 5km/hr and so we were constantly bombarded with people trying to sell things to us as the walked along the side of the truck. Sunglasses, corn on the cob, sandals, water, local fruits and nuts. Anything you could possibly want and even more things that you never even considered finding at a street vendor!
