Livingstone Day 2
My bug bites are driving me crazy! I’ll have to walk into town today to find something to put on them. I woke up at 4:30am scratching my ankles!
This morning at 6am my friend Liz and I went for a guided walk with 2 lion cubs. The cubs were a year and a half old so they are much bigger than I expected. The group that has the lions is a part of the ALERT (African Lion E R T) program and it is a 4 step program to release young lions back into the wild all across Africa. The cubs are only allowed human contact for the first 2 years followed by another 2 years of monitored hunting opportunities until they are capable of taking down large game on their own. It seems like a good program and I really enjoyed it.
I spent the rest of the day going through all my stuff and sorting laundry and cleaning my gear.
This was the last day for 6 of our members. Tomorrow we will get 6 new members to fill the truck for the rest of the trip. I can’t believe it’s half over!! I only have 3 weeks left on this trip!!
