Today is my last day in Livingstone and I went to the famous Victoria Falls. They rent out raincoats but I was soaked anyway. It was like walking around in the heaviest rainfall I’ve ever seen for a half hour. I laughed the whole time! The mist was so heavy we really couldn’t see the falls and since a few people in our group had already ruined their cameras I decided to leave mine at the camp.
After I toured the falls I stopped at a market in the parking lot while waiting for our taxi. I had come prepared to trade a few of the extra little things I had brought that I’ve found out that I don’t need…..SOCKS! What was I thinking??? I brought about 8 pairs of socks and I’ve worn one pair in 3 weeks! The socks had to go, and fortunately they were a hot commodity!! I managed to get a really nice small jewelry box made out of stone in exchange for 2 pair of socks, a hair clip, and $10 USD! Good trade! I also got a few other small things for socks, hair elastics were popular, and a few hair clips. I didn’t trade everything away, I saved some goodies to trade further down the line as well.
After the market I couldn’t resist going to the Victoria Falls Golf and Country club to smack a few balls around. After my 3rd or 4th ball I turned around to grab another ball and nearly screamed when I found a man standing right behind me! Sneaky Bastard! He had come from out of the bushes and wanted to fetch the balls for me for $5 USD. Seeing as it was about 35 degrees I said hell ya. Later I felt bad when I consistently sliced left, then right, then left, etc, making the poor man run from side to side for an hour. I slipped him a $10.
